Cover at the top of bag with zipper, zip pockets at sides for smaller items or thermos, and a zip front pocket for the smaller things you really want close to hand. Inside the backpack you have a small safety pocket. Rain cover quick and easy to reach via outside placed zipper at bottom of the bag. If you want to bring the computer, there is a custom pocket for this on the inside, up to 15 inch.
